We are Rebecca and Quintin Hazlett who live on Hukarere Station in West Otago, with our 3 children; Olivia, Jack and Toby.
Hukarere Station is a family owned and run business employing ourselves, two families and a young shepherd. The families and people involved in Hukarere Station understand the need to provide ethical, traceable, environmentally sustainable and healthy meat products for our people and communities.
Ever since we became certified organic in 2008 we had a desire to deliver fresh, certified organic meat products directly from our farm to New Zealand families so they can benefit from our passion and commitment. All of us involved at Hukarere Station take immense pride in what we produce and are thrilled to be able to deliver high quality certified organic produce for New Zealanders to enjoy.
Reflecting on the past 15 years of organic farming and the challenges we’ve overcome, we’re proud to have established a thriving organic farming system and the opportunity to create solutions within a natural environment.
Hukarere Station has about 18,000 acres of hill country and 2000 acres of rolling lower countryside; ranging from 250m to 1200m above sea level. The land offers a wide variety of terrain, with varying vegetation from fattening pastures to snow tussocks, and the Pomahaka River runs through it.
Environmental protection and nurturing close connections with our people are at the core of what we do. We value and care for our sheep, cattle. They are 100% grass fed and always have plenty of fresh clean water and shelter.
We aim to provide a consistently top-quality product that is 100% traceable.
We warmly welcome visitors to come and enjoy our slice of paradise, by staying at one of our two comfortable hut accommodations. One situated by the Pomahaka River and the other in the back country tussock lands. From these comfortable huts, you have the opportunity to fish for brown trout in the Pomahaka River, hunt free-range red deer, horse ride, bike or walk around the unique beauty of our hill country tussock and grasslands.
Why Support Us?
After operating Hukarere Station conventionally for 8 years, we knew we wanted to do things a little differently.
That’s when we started the journey towards regenerative and organic farming. With determination, hard work and a desire to work in harmony with nature we have been proudly organically certified since 2008.
